Linda Atherton is committed to bringing learning alive. She has developed an inspirational approach to science, which blends an understanding of different learning styles with scientific knowledge. Linda has developed an imaginative approach that challenges scientific thinking.
Her multi sensory approach has been enhanced by making strong cross curricular links with literacy, numeracy, humanities, design and technology and art .Her groundbreaking work on creative science and cross curricular work has been recognised by The Wellcome Trust and the DCSF. She has recently been awarded a grant by the Wellcome trust to work with the Warwickshire Art zone on a 'Life drawing' project in 2008 that will provide opportunities for secondary science and art departments in the county to collaborate and inspire students in all phases to become scientists of the future.
Linda is an established author. In 2007 she collaborated with EDS Adviser Nick Cronin on a new publication to promote creative and active approaches to the teaching of primary science.
Linda is an enthusiastic facilitator with experience. She has over 25 years teaching experience in both primary and secondary phases, and a wide and varied background of teaching and leading all areas of science in secondary schools and teaching up to A level. Linda enjoys working closely with teachers and teams to develop their skills and share strategies, methods and materials. She often works alongside pupils to provide situations that stimulate scientific enquiry.
She is a consultant with the National College for School Leadership currently tutoring on the 'Leading from the Middle' programme. She has extensive experience in coaching and team building. Linda has an MA in Education Leadership and Management.
